We proposed a double-layered superconducting tube consisting of an inner powder-pressed Bi(2223) tube and an outer melt-processed Y(123) tube. The tube thus prepared will focus electron beams ranging from single pulsed nanosecond-order to quasi-continuous electron beams. This is because the powder-pressed tube focuses single short-pulsed electron beams effectively as explained by a "ferrite-core model" and the melt-processed tube will focus continuous electron beams because of its few grain boundaries. In this paper, focusing characteristics of single powder-pressed and melt-processed tubes were described for single pulsed electron beams (approx340 keV, approx1 kA, and approx10 ns) as basic data for a double-layered tube.
