A method of treatment of three-dimensional natural convection in the annulus between two horizontal concentric cylinders is presented. The staggered grid system is used in discretization of the governing equations and the Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (Simple) algorithm is employed for the numerical simulation. In order to testify the validity of the program, examples of different cylinder radius to length ratio with adiabatic condition at the ends are worked out. Computational results of the criteria for choosing 2-D or 3-D simulation approach are presented in graphical form.
