Main goal of the model extension described here is to increase the understanding of the influences of the environmental conditions on the working performance of solar cells and to permit a better interpretation of the role played through each model parameter. Particularly the knowledge of the influence of the direct and diffuse solar radiation and the temperature dependency of the model components allows new insights into the mode of operation of solar cells.
