摘要

In a desert climate such as the one prevailing in the Mexican city of Mexicali B.C., the use of construction materials with physical and thermal properties should be a must. This article presents an alternate light concrete for masonry blocks, prepared with two residues from local industries. This light concrete was mechanically and thermally tested under the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) norms, and compared with clay brick, concrete block and adobe. The mixture presents adequate compressive strength and thermal advantages.
