This paper describes a computer simulation model for analyzing not only the individual performance of the main components in photovoltaic (PV) systems, namely the photovoltaic array, the battery, the controller, the inverter and the loads but also the performance of the whole PV system. The parameters of these components used in the model are obtained by either using the manufacturer's data for the relevant components or determining from experimental tests under controlled conditions. An experimental house with PV panels on its roof and other components inside is established for model verification. Good agreements is found between the results simulated by the model and those observed from the experiments.
