Interoperability is an important aspect for all parties involved in Electronic Fee Collection.Traditionally these parties have been the operators and their equipment suppliers. This pictureis now rapidly changing with national systems separating the operator role from the issuerrole, and involving authorities, clearing houses, Trusted Third Parties for security, bankinginstitutions and so on.The requirement to prove or qualify interoperability is therefore much higher than before. Thispaper looks into this qualification and approval process for DSRC-based EFC with casesranging from Australia to Norway.
