摘要

We have developed a mini-closed pressure vessel test(MCPVT) from the traditional pressure vessel test (PVT) recommended by the United Nations Recommendations for measuring the decomposition violence of the chemicals heated under the confinement. An experimetnal apparatus is a closed type of stainless-steel pressure vessel having 6ml inner volume as a standard, which is uniformly heated with the constant heating rate of 0.5 approx 30 deg C/min. Sample mass of 0.5 to 2.0g is used for blowing agents and organic peroxides dependent on their violence. Both pressur/time and temperature/time records can be measured. Especially, the maximum pressure and the maximum rate of pressure rise are compared with the data obtained from PVTs. The relation between data obtained from MCPVT and PVT gives a good correlation. The compensation equations are empirically derived from a lot of test data performed under a variety of test conditions of sampel mass, heating rate and vessel volume. A standard test condition and the criteria for ranking the violence are proposed. Conclusively, the MCPVT can be substituted for the PVT as a standard or screening test for meansuring the decomposition violence in heating under the confinement.
