Today, the development of environmental consciousness, the desire of human beings to live in good, clean surroundings, the gradual increase of energy costs, and similar cases, make necessary the research and investigations regarding the possibilities of recycling, the recovering of waste material, and the development of the suitable equipment needed for such. In this study, the possibility of the utilization of slags, which are obtained from the Iron-Steel factories of the Iskenderun, Eregli and Karabuek as a source of alumina during glass production, have been investigated. About 1 t of a representative sample was taken from the stockpile for each factory. Chemical analysis, microscopic investigation with an electron microscope, particle size distribution, and technological tests were carried out on these samples. At the end of these experiments, a concentrate of a suitable particle size and chemical composition, was obtained. These concentrates and feldspar were used to produce glass separately by the glass company, and were compared to each other from an economic and quality point of view.
