We examined the effect of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) on the in vitro skin permeation of estradiol using Yucatan micropig skin. NMP enhanced the permeation of estradiol from solution, ointment and adhesive tape. The amount of estradiol that permeated from the solution containing 30% NMP was three times as much as that from Estraderm~(~R)M.
