Acid mine drainages from the Sitai coalmine present very high concentrations of rareearth elements (REE).The middle REE (MREE) is enriched in these samples with respect to boththe light REE (LREE) and heavy REE (HREE) in NASC-normalized REE patterns.The mostpossible mechanisms responsible for the convex-up pattern are weathering process and/orsolution-solid surface reactions.Furthermore,based on the major solute chemistry,the speciationof REE in AMD was calculated by PHREEQCI.The results indicate that SO42- is the mostimportant complexing ligand,and the REE exist mainly as SO42- complexes and free metal species,other possible inorganic complexes are negligible.
