A brief survey of the use of Multi-objective scheduling techniques on the job shop problem isoffered. The survey stops at a stage where new trends and approaches are emerging that takeadvantage of techniques such genetic algorithms and the power of recent computing technology thatmay allow for consideration of more than two objectives when scheduling a job. Thus the paper setsthe stage for a further detailed analysis that involves decision makers at the problem formulationstage.
