Earthworms can be used to deal with solid organic waste[1][2]. Many studies on the effect oftemperature, moisture, PH value on the growth, fecundity and survival of earthworm in manure. Thestudy of the influence of the similar parameters is presented in this paper.The growth and mortality of earthworm in municipal solid waste with different temperature (15 °C, 20 °C,25 °C) were studied for 70 days, different PH value (5.1, 5.4, 6.5, 7.2, 8.6) were studied for one dayand repeated three times, and different C/N ratio (26, 24, 22, 20, 17, 15) were studied for 15 days andrepeated twice. The object of this study is Eisenia fetida, and the raw material is mainly come fromChina Agricultural University including leftover, vegetable, leaves and so on.The following conclusions have been derived:1. Earthworm growth correlations were found to be like S shape in different temperature andfound that the shortest growth period is 52d at 25 °C, the largest growth rate is 0.0138 g per day.2. A correlation between the growth rate and feed-conversion rate was determined, the largestweight-gain rate and feed-conversion rate at 19.7 °C and 21.9 °C can be 0.0459 g/g per day, 0.429 g/gper day respectively.3. The appropriate PH value is 6.5~8.6. The earthworm number decreased obviously if PH valueexceeds this range.4. The material conversion rate is largest when C/N ratio is 20 and in 20 °C.5. According to PH value and C/N ratio, the optimal ferment period of municipal solid waste is 18 days,it can satisfy the need of worms.
