This presentation will tell the story of oil mist, what modern oil mist is, how it isgenerated and how it works, with documented case histories which highlight thetechnical benefits and economic justifications as well as its positive direct and indirectenvironmental impact.Oil mist lubrication is the proven state-of-the-art method of EHD bearing lubrication,through supplying continuously the precise required quantity of clean dry oil to the rightpoints.With the new ISO281/2 bearing life calculation formula and the “Design Guide” fromthe ASME Tribology Division it is now possible to also show in theory the benefitsachieved over the years, by replacing traditional oil bath lubrication with modern oilmist lubrication to centrifugal pumps. Both the increased reliability of the bearings andthe energy efficiency, reduce the life cycle cost of the equipments.Guidelines and results of oil mist lubrication applied to the bearings of electrical motorswill also be given.Closed oil mist lubrication systems are also available which can meet even the highestenvironmental standards.
