It has been proved that fiber reinforced polymer laminates suffer from glass-fiber related stresscorrosion cracking in acid and alkaline environments. Nowadays, there are a number of glass fiber laminates commercially available but there are no sufficient data to assess the right material system in terms of technical and cost points of views. In this paper, a corrosion resistance study will be presented related to the behavior of E-, boron free E- and AR-glass after both acid and alkaline exposure. Stress-corrosion test results of the different glass fibers will be analyzed and a comparison table will be presented to assess the resistance of the material systems described after both acid and alkaline exposure. In order to evaluate the technical and cost properties of the different glass materials above described, one case study will be reported. The stress-corrosion test results will be used for carrying out mechanical calculations of a structure after acid exposure for a given number of hours. As a result of
