Environmentally friendly, high-quality layered Na_2Ti_3O_7 and hexagonal prismatic Na_2Ti_6O_(13) whiskerswere easily grown by the cooling of NaCl used as the flux. The layered Na_2Ti_3O_7 and needle-like Na_2Ti_6O_(13) crystalswere transparent and colorless. The crystal sizes were obviously dependent on the solute concentration. The growncrystals exhibited high activities for the Ru-system dye adsorption. Furthermore, the dye-sensitized Na_2Ti_3O_7,H_2Ti_3O_7 and Na_2Ti_6O_(13) crystals could work as photoactive electrodes for dye-sensitized solar cells under a solarsimulator.
