A geomatic methodology to allocate infiltration areas based on spatial analysis and remote sensing procedures is proposed. The used remote sensing data was a 2002 Landsat 7 ETM+ image, a SRTM Digital Elevation Model (DEM), as well as a precipitation map from the world-wide climatic database WORLDCLIM. The implementation of a distributed Rainfall-Runoff model based on the curve method (CN) is included in the proposed methodology. The CN method is interpreted as an infiltration equation. A map of topographic position derived from the SRTM DEM was used to define the geographic extension of drainage lines with flow accumulations by selecting the areas corresponding to depressions and flats (flooding areas) that intersect the drainage lines. Improvements for the model were performed by considering geology and extension of flooding areas. The defined infiltration areas were used to define a first characterization of green areas and its capability to provide the environmental service groundwater recharge.
