Thermodynamics of TiN inclusion formation in tyre cord steel has been carried out.The effect of carbon content of tyre cord steel on TiN inclusion formation is investigated.It is found that the carbon content difference of tyre cord steel grades has small effect on the equilibrium concentration product of TiN.The TiN inclusions are likely to occur at the later stage of solidification due to smaller equilibrium concentration product of TiN.The tyre cord steel with higher carbon content is more sensitive to the forming of TiN inclusion because carbon element lowers the TiN equilibrium concentration product.According to theoretical analysis,practical measure of increasing equilibrium concentration product of TiN at the later stage of solidification was applied into industrial practice.The theoretical analysis is verified by the comparison.
