This study aimed to characterize and to investigate thehemolytic effects, the miotoxicity and the analgesicproperties of the sufentanil:2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex (SUF:HP-β-CD).Physico-chemical characterization indicated the formationof a stable complex. In vitro and in vivo assays showedthat the SUF:HP-β-CD presented muscle compatibility,less hemolytic effects and increased the duration ofanalgesia, being an effective novel formulation to enhancethe pharmacological effects of sufentanil.
