Effective design of e-commerce web sites demands a better understanding of consumers’ onlineshopping behavior and the underlying factors that influence the behavior. Despite some earlierresearch on the factors and the behavior, limited progress has been made to systematicallyreconcile both in a single design framework. In this research, an integrative variance-processframework of customer-centered web site design is proposed from both the factors and theprocess perspectives. It shows that various factors have distinct impact on the various stages inonline shopping process. Based on the framework, three key factors that have potential impact onweb design success are recognized, including information requirement determination,information structuring, and web interface design.
