A compact and novel ultra wideband (UWB) antenna is proposed with a 3–14 GHz bandwidth and a band rejectotch response. A voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) ≤ 2 is achieved except in the Wireless LAN (WLAN) band (5.15–5.825 GHz) where the parasitic elliptical band-notch strip is operating. The antenna is designed on a planar duroid 5880 substrate of relative permittivity 2.2 and dielectric loss tangent 0.0009. Moreover, the antenna has compact dimensions of 16 × 16 × 0.9 mm.
