Gun accuracy is influenced by several parameters during the in-bore projectile travel. Theaim of this study is to determine the influence of gun barrel straightness on projectile exitconditions, in order to understand how to improve weapon accuracy. A tridimensionalnumerical model is created in order to vary this parameter and to study its influence on theammunition behavior during internal ballistics. The model will be validated usingexperimental firings, particularly with accelerometers embedded in the ammunition. Thesefirings have required the development of an optoelectronic system to transmit accelerationsin real time. The good correlation of the experimental and numerical results proves therepresentativeness of the model. The model can then be used now to perform parametricanalysis and to determine the most penalizing straightness shapes for gun accuracy.
