During the process of the Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway construction, if the construction equipments and the materials intrude the existing railway lines, it will cause serious accidents. To avoid the threat, a surveillance system is needed, which should measure the status of the existing line clearance at real time with high precision. Such system is proposed in this paper, which combines the laser scan technology and wireless network to ensure the safety of the railway traffic. An identification algorithm is studied to analyze the data from the LMS-200 laser scan equipments, the system will identify the threatening object and the train showing up in the existing line clearance. If there is a threatening object, the system will start the warning process. The system is used in building sits in Jinan and Taian, the field experiments show that the system has high validity, response speed and can meet the construction requirements.
