Recent years, though the performance of China's international engineering contracting has made great progress, there still exists large difference between the developed countries'.Since China joining in WTO, the openness of Chinese construction market to foreign contractors is greater, Chinese construction enterprises face opportunities and threats in international engineering contracting market. How to survive the keen competition of international engineering contracting market has been an important question of Chinese construction enterprises' development. This paper answered the question. First of all, analyzed the general development status of international engineering contracting market and Chinese construction enterprises, discussed the basic principle of SWOT method. After that, the paper carried on SWOT analysis for Chinese construction enterprises, in order to discover their strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. On such basis, bring forward some maneuverable countermeasures for Chinese construction enterprises to develop the international engineering contracting market.
