摘要

This paper analyzes the influence of labor outmigration on rural households' livelihood capitals by employing the data obtained from a household survey in China's Qinling mountain area carried out in 2008. It is found that there are significant differences in the amounts of livelihood capitals according to whether the household has family member(s) who migrated out. These are called migrant households. The degree of influence of the migration varies among the different types of capitals. The characteristics of migration also exert different influences on the different types of rural household's livelihood capitals. The analysis may contribute to the development of an approach to improving household livelihoods in remote mountain areas of western China.
