In this study, starch-polyacrylamide grafting copolymer (St-PAM) as flocculant was used to treat the effluent from bleaching, the flocculation effects of starch-polyacrylamide grafting copolymer and other kinds of flocculants on effluent from bleaching were compared, and the proper ratio of the starch-polyacrylamide grafting copolymer and alum(Al2(SO4)3) was obtained. The results showed that when Al2(SO4)3/St-PAM, St-PAM, PAM and Al2(SO4)3 were used to treat effluent from bleaching, the flocculation sequence from the best to the worst was Al2(SO4)3/St-PAM, St-PAM, PAM and Al2(SO4)3. When Al2(SO4)3 and St-PAM are used as flocculant together, the best ratio of Al2(SO4)3 and St-PAM is 1:1.
