We recently proposed a novel non-viral gene delivery system multifunctional envelope-type nano device (MEND) to realize Programmed Packaging. The MEND is consists of a condensed DNA core and a lipid envelope equipped with the various functional devices. Octaarginine (R8), which is known as a cell penetrating peptide, has been introduced on the' surface of MEND, which produced as strong transfection activity as adenovirus in dividing cells. For systemic administration, PPD-MED has been proposed to solve a PEG dilemma and could induce significant transfection activity in tumor tissue after intravenous administration.
