PROSPECT OF SPACE DEBRIS MITIGATION RESEARCH IN CHINA FOR NEXT FIVE YEARS

China National Space Administration attaches great importance to the space debris issue. Under the frame of "12thFive-Year Plan for Space Debris Research", China has arranged several kinds of research programs in the field ofspace mitigation, such as passivation design for all new-designed launch vehicle orbital stage, after-mission disposalof GEO satellite at end of life-time, after-mission disposal for LEO satellite at end of life-time, standardization ofspace debris mitigation, development of expert system for space debris mitigation design, and so on. Anotherimportant issue is to carry out the "Management Requirement for Space Debris Mitigation and Protection" ratifiedby China National Space Administration in 2010. With this effort, China space industry will follow the requirementsfor management and technical issues throughout space activities, which will be of far-reaching influence on Chinaspace activities.
