A zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) buck converter with a self-driven synchronous rectifier is proposed in this paper. An additional circuit consisting of LC and an auxiliary switch is added to a conventional buck converter and a self-driven synchronous rectifier is used instead of a buck diode. Due to the ZVS feature, the switching loss is significantly reduced. Also, the conduction loss is reduced by applying a synchronous rectifier. The operation principle and steady-state analysis of the proposed converter are provided. A prototype of the proposed converter is developed, and its experimental results are presented for validation.
