Blending is an effective way for polymer modification. Influences of PE content on morphology and properties of PVC/PE blends were investigated, and the blends coated polyester multifilaments were prepared. The DSC study shows that, the glass transition temperature (Tg) of PVC/PE blends is lower than that of PVC plasticized by dioctyl phthalate. The lower Tg as well as decreased dimension of dispersed phase indicate that the compatibility of blends and their low temperature resistance are improved. Meanwhile, the thermal degradation remains the same, and there is rare difference on the active energy of thermal degradation between pure PVC and PVC/PE blends, however the coating process becomes easy and excellent coating concentricity can be obtained.
