In the present work, electrochemical oxidation of biologically pretreated citric acid wastewater for reuse was studied. The effects of electric voltage and initial chloride concentration were investigated. Under the conditions of an electric voltage of 9 V, an initial chloride concentration of 3000 mg L‐?, the COD concentration and turbidity were effectively reduce from 349 mg L‐? and 66 NTU to 6 mg L‐? and 3.8 NTU. Additionally, it was found that the harness could also be removed during the electrolysis process via forming precipitates mainly composed of the CaMg(CO3) 2 crystal. The results show that advanced treatment of biologically pretreated citric acid wastewater for reuse in Ti/RuO2/IrO2 anode system was feasible. It indicates that the application of electrochemical oxidation is promising for advanced treatment of biologically pretreated wastewater for reuse.
