Anti-rutting agent (ARA) is a new composite material which contains fiber polymers and fillings. In order to investigate the influence of experimental factors and the aging properties of ARA modified asphalt mixture on water stability, three experimental factors were considered within this paper and short-term oven aging (STOA) and long-term oven aging (LTOA) were used to simulate the aging process of an asphalt mixture in the field. The orthogonal test was used to show that ARA can increase the water stability dramatically and the influence of factors effecting an ARA modified asphalt mixture can be arranged as follows: ARA dosage, mixing temperature and mixing method. Further, for both aged and unaged mixtures, the freeze and thaw splitting test showed that the ARA can effectively improve the anti-aging properties of an asphalt mixture. This analysis and these conclusions are important to future studies on the properties and mechanics of ARA.
