The paper tracks the evolutionary process of the Internet of Things,introduces the lnternet of Things application in river management and development at home and abroad,analyses the progress and problem of the Digital Yellow River,proposes the solutions and ideas that can be applied in the Yellow River management and development.The lnternet of Things was considered as the third wave in the information industry after the Computer and the Intemet.It is becoming more and more important in river management and development.The Digital Yellow River was proposed based on the Digital Earth and technical background at that time.But today the Information Technology has made great changes.The Digital Earth has evolved into the Smarter Planet.And the Digital Yellow River will be upgraded to the Smarter Yellow River.The Intemet of Things has a bright future in Yellow River management and development.All the automated and intelligent basic information collection will depend on the Intemet of Things technology.To integrate flood control projects and information technology facilities based on the Internet of Things technology will make it smarter,which will be the way to achieve the modernization of the Yellow River management and development.The Yellow River management and development will be pushed to a new level by the Internet of Things technology.The smarter Yellow River will keep healthy life.
