The National Ignition Campaign (NIC) began ignition experiments on NIF in FY2010. Ignition tuning targets generate physics information on target conditions to help scientists refine ignition experiment parameters. Three of the tuning targets currently fielded include "keyhole" targets that provide information on shock timing and velocity, "re-emit" targets that facilitate study of the capsule implosion shape and "convergent ablator" targets that help measure implosion velocity and capsule mass at the end of the implosion. We will discuss the tuning targets requirements and how these have been met with current target design, fabrication, assembly and metrology.
