The paper examines the potential role that air freight transportation in the United States can playin stimulating local and regional development. The analysis examines trends in employment andincome for metropolitan standard areas that make use of air freight services. The focus is oncausality, and not on simple correlation and uses econometric analysis rather than simplereconomic multiplier approaches. The conclusions focus on the strengths but also the weaknessesof methodologies for assessing causality.
