In a traditional way, some systems, equipment or processes were monitored by visual inspection and manual maintenance, actions that involve time, experience and skill. Nowadays, the market demand has led to automatically monitoring of the processes, equipment and installations and the development of human-machine communication. Monitoring and controlling of technological processes presents a series of advantages, such as: improving the reliability and security, reducing time of production and unavailability of equipment, as well as reducing maintenance costs. Researches in the area of monitoring and controlling production systems have sustained the development of complex systems, composed by interconnected components, sensors, information processing modules and intelligent algorithms.
