A Semantic Technology Supported Precision Agriculture System: A Case Study for Citrus Fertilizing

Recently Semantic Technology (ST) has been widely applied in many fields such as health care, energy, environmental science, life sciences, national intelligence, and so on. ST can represent the meaning of information explicitly, which helps machines to process and integrate existing information automatically. In this paper, we discuss how to apply ST in precision agriculture. Citrus fertilizing is chosen as an example to show how to build the related semantic knowledge base as well as the citrus disease query system. With the help of ST, the precision agriculture system can play a greater role in increasing yield of citrus and avoiding plant diseases. A general framework of decision-making support system for citrus production is also provided.
