Performance Demonstration of NSPO Spaceborne GPS Receiver

With greater role that global positioning system receivers(hence GPSR) plays in the autonomy enhancement ofnavigation and the facilitation of operation for a variety ofspacecrafts and rockets, many key players in the globalspace arena pour numerous resources into thedevelopment of the autonomous space-borne GPSRs,including National Space Organization (hence NSPO) ofTaiwan. Two missions considered during thedevelopment course of space-grade embedded softwarereceiver (SESR) are FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 andSounding Rocket. To thoroughly validate the performanceof the proposed SESR, a platform to emulate the attitudecontrol and dynamics/environments software simulator(hence ACDESS) of these two missions in real time isrequired. In this paper, an ACDESS platform built on thePXI system manufactured by National Instruments isproposed. The platform consists of necessary interfaces towork with GPS RF signal emulator by injecting motiondata to the controller of RF signal generator. The end-toendaccuracy of NSPO SESR for both scenarios is betterthan 8 meters (1σ, 3D) which suggests its promisingperspectives for the two missions.
