摘要

A high torque dynamic is demanded in modern power converter powered AC drives for a high productivity. However, the rapid change of torque causes quick current changes leading to big transient skin effect and additional Joule losses in the squirrel cage of the induction motors. This phenomenon can result in overheating problems, especially in the case of deep rotor bars with fast load cycles. Aiming at making a calculation basis of the transient eddy current losses in different bar and current cases, this paper presents and compares different analytical and numerical methods, which are validated by the experimental results.
