Airtightness data of 600 dwellings in high-rise residential buildings in Korea

A large number of high-rise residential buildings with steel framed reinforced concrete structure are widely constructed in Asia.While extensive data on air leakage in low-rise dwellings (timber structure and masonry construction) exists, there is little data available on dwellings in high-rise residential buildings(steel framed reinforced concrete structure).In this paper,we analyzed airtightness data for high-rise residential buildings in Korea.We conducted airtightness measurement using fan pressurization method for about approximately 600 dwellings in 4 high-rise residential blocks.We analyzed the test results according to the envelope type and the area of building enclosure and compared the result to the airtightness requirements for several airtightness criteria.Also, we investigated the air leakage points to research airtightness construction for high-rise residential buildings.
