In this research, we describe the suggestion of the object-oriented RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and its applications to managethe manufacturing systems.An object-oriented concept realizes the polymorphism by the inheritance mechanism, and in our former researches we showed that realizing the polymorphism provides us to manage the various kinds of tags with flexibility.In this research, we newly attempt the introduction of the metamorphosis function into RFID systems to improve the flexibility in the manufacturing systems.Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth in biology.A change in the form of an animal after birthis caused during normal development.For example, it is seen in the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly or a tadpole into a frog.In an object-oriented concept, the inheritance is implemented by using the class definition.The instances are created statically in the system, and once those have been created, those are never transformed.In the extended object-oriented concept suggested in this research, the instances can transform into the inherited instances dynamically,i.e.this is the metamorphosis.For the verification of this suggestion, were design the experimental RFID system by using rewritable feature of RFID.
