On behalf of our Governing Board, I would like to welcome you to the 2013 joint conference of ISES, ISEE, and ISIAQ. Exposure science is a critical component of environmental public health. As we continue to more fully integrate both occupational and ecosystem exposures into the exposure science framework, we have the opportunity to develop a truly global perspective for our field. The theme of this year's conference, Environment and Health: Bridging South, North, East and West, underscores the international reach of exposure science. Our plenary address will highlight some of the important advances being made in exposure science beyond North America and Europe.
