This paper presents a Monte Carlo simulation based approach for the calculation of the equivalent continuous current of distributed generation systems' power cables. In the proposed approach, the uncertainty of the operating mode of each distributed generator and hence its contribution to the total cable current is modeled as a random current phasor. The equivalent continuous current of the power cable is estimated by representing the distributed generation system with its equivalent circuit model and running Monte Carlo simulation for large number of randomly operating DGs. Case studies are presented and discussed.
