摘要

From the eighteenth century, the science museum has been the place to store their collections and to display them. People enhance their scientific knowledge and interest about science through the science museums. And science museum is still important place to meet public and science and to improve science knowledge and culture of people. It is same in space field. As Korea has performed space development, the museums that are specialized in space or include space related exhibitions have increased. However, they still have many difficulties to perform their roles to transfer scientific knowledge and experiences to the public and to grow the next generation. Although the science museums provide the instant joy and some science knowledge through a lot of hands-on exhibitions and up-to-date exhibitions, they cannot perform their roles to arouse people's perception about space or to attract the next generation to dream space. It is because the most science museums remain as only the place to display the collections of curiosities. How should the science museums do to develop science culture, to make the next generation to dream science, and to make people to be more familiar to science? This paper tried to find the way from storytelling. Narrative has been considered as the one of very effective way to make people to change their mind. Some scholars argued that story is the most influential communication method and narrative can wake people's attention everywhere. It is same in museum. If the museums can provide the proper storytelling about their theme and exhibitions, people are transformed to the space story that museums provide. Based on this, some Korean science museums start to apply storytelling in their exhibitions. They are Naro Space Center Space Science Museum and Jeju Aerospace Museum (JAM). The visitor count of the Naro Space Center Space Science Museum was over a million in January 2014 and JAM becomes a hot place where people should visit after opening in April 2014. If they will not remain the collection of exhibitions will be storyteller of space, the science museums can be a base camp to expand space culture in Korea.
