Frequency spectrum is a vital resource to operate radio telemetry and telecommand systems. The tendency goes continuously to increasing data rates, due to system complexity and an improved sensor technology with more channels, better amplitude and a higher time resoltution. On the other side the available spectrum was diminished by the commercial pressure. Future projects call for a band augmentation dedicated fot aeronautical wideband telemetry and telecommand needs. By a coordinated action of the International Consortium of Telemetry Spectrum (ICTS), carried out by telemetry practitioners in all parts of the world this point did come on the agenda of the next World Radio Conference 2007, under action item 1.5. A possible augmentation in the range of 3 to 30 GHz, as to be decided by the WRC 07, will also have an impact on future atmosphere science missions. The future requirements of the science community using rockets and balloons as an instrument platform should be also implemented into the WRC 07 preparation process.
