摘要

In these tough economic times, creating new jobs and strengthening regional economic development targeted on the high tech and other sectors has received increasing attention and support from industry, government and educational institutions on a global basis. With the rapid growth potential associated with the technology sector represented by such companies as Google, Apple, Facebook and others, it is a very appealing segment. Approximately 1 million small businesses start up each year. Approximately 84% of incubator graduates are still in business within 5 years. This paper contributes a model for developing and implementing a successful university-based technology incubator based on a case study of the University of Bridgeport's CTech IncUBator. There is strong evidence showing that businesses that participate in university based incubators tend to do better over the long haul, so we expect this initiative to contribute to ensuring the success of the next generation of high-tech leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs.
