In single phase H-bridge inverters, a time delay is inserted in switching signals to prevent a short circuit between the dc links, which causes the dead-time effect on the output of the inverter. This paper proposes a dead-time suppression method by employing a proportional multiple-resonant control (PMR) in the inverter control loop. Based on Fourier series formula of deviation voltage cause by dead-time effect, the selected harmonics are suppressed in PMR control loop. The inverter achieves the minimum total harmonic distortion (THD) on the output voltage. The stability and performance of the control is analyzed in the paper. A 5-kW inverter prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis and simulation results.
