This paper addresses the designing of a knowledge base system for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces based on the 3-Dimensional gait kinematic patterns of soldiers interfacing with spatio-temporal features extracted; heart rate levels and rating of perceived exertion, during prolonged loaded foot march while on a treadmill under the presence of motion capture system. Kinematic features derived such as angular changes and range of motion in critical joints; ankle, knee, hip, pelvis and trunk from ten healthy soldiers were assessed while walking at 6.4 km/h at 1 % elevation carrying 15 kg loaded military backpack for 30 min. The results achieved have shown significant changes in angular changes of only ankle and knee joint at the end of the trial at frontal plane, during toe-off, and knee joint at transverse plane, during all gait events, respectively; including no significant changes observed in spatio-temporal data. There was a significant increase (p < 0.05) in HR and RPE values towards the end of load carriage trial. Based on the results obtained, subjects were able to consistently replicate their kinematic patterns throughout the experimental task leading to establishing a knowledge base system for soldiers' pattern recognition.
