The paper presents two new results on the edge-based vertex-centered schemes. First, we improve the accuracy of Flux Corrector method on unsteady problems by equipping it with the properties of the Edge-Based Reconstruction schemes. The resulting new scheme keeps the advantages of the original method and offers an additional property-the third order of accuracy on translationally symmetric meshes both for steady and unsteady problems. Second, we extend the edge-based schemes to hybrid unstructured meshes with no loss in accuracy and keeping their 1-exactness. The key point of it is the introduction of special "semitransparent" control volumes. We verify the results on a set of test problems governed by the Euler and linearised Euler equations.
