Wavelet Spectral Finite Element (WSFE) based User Defined Elements (UEL) are used to construct a skin-stiffener structure which generates real-time baseline data for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). A finite element model in Abaqus is used to generate data for a damaged (disbonded) skin-stiffener structure in the absence of experimental/field measurement data. A modified version of the Cross Correlation Method (CCM) is proposed for signal processing for damage localization. The Modified Cross Correlation Method (MCCM) makes improvements in actuator-sensor configuration, wave (group) velocity calculation, and signal post-processing. It is shown that the WSFE based UEL model of the skin-stiffener structure is highly efficient computationally and may be used for real time baseline data generation. Damage localization is much improved using the proposed method (MCCM) even in the presence of boundary reflections in the signals.
