The experimental investigation of unsteady three-dimensional shock-vortex interaction was conducted in a square cross-sectional open-end shock tube to understand the fundamental characteristics of shock-turbulence interaction. The shock reflection behaviors around the vortex are altered due to a three-dimensional effect induced by the nonuniform vortex loop shape. The strong density change caused by the corner of the vortex loop induces shock reflection, and the shock reflection behavior is altered depending on the position of the corner of the vortex loop.
